I was recently alerted to the fact that the Heathcliff comic - which I found entirely unremarkable when I saw it in the newspaper comics section back in the 1970s and 1980s - is awesomely and surreally funny these days. Apparently it's now being done (written and drawn) by Peter Gallagher, the nephew of the feature's late creator, George Gately. Gallagher's guiding philosophy seems to be, 'f*** it, why not?'
