Ish, thanks for running that test pattern. I remember in the late 1960s and early 1970s, running downstairs early Saturday morning to watch cartoons, and getting a test pattern because it was TOO early! (Or some channels would have a religious program, which was way worse than a test pattern. I haven't outgrown THAT sentiment.)
Does anybody know why test patterns had an Indian on them?

It seems like they mentioned upgrading the server as a part of creating the new board. I wonder if they are doing that. The CBR boards were actually down on and off for a few hours because too many people were archiving old threads at the last minute. So TPTB shut down the old boards completely a few hours before the deadline they had originally given.

It was April 15th. Everyone waited for the last minute. You're thinking of taxes.

Does anybody know why test patterns had an Indian on them? The Indian head was an original piece of art commissioned by RCA in the late 30s. There doesn't seem to be any specific reason for it other than that is what RCA asked for. Interestingly, the original art was rescued from a dumpster by a construction worker during demolition of RCA's Harrison, NJ site in 1970. 30 years later, the worker used the internet to determine what it was he had and sold the art to a collector.
