I'm a big fan. Other than Legion, the only Archives editions I bought at close to full price were theirs. Not all the stories hold up, but stuff like the Dynamo-Iron Maiden romance are timeless. The recent IDW series wasn't bad, liked it better than what DC did before. I think the only stories I have never read were those from Archie comics (I think one story?) and Penthouse Comix (because, ew.) Nice to see another fan. Interesting that you're also that much into the Legion, because they were always another favorite of mine as well. If your other favorite group from the Silver/Bronze age were the Teen Titans, then it's getting spooky. I also preferred the IDW series, since that had the original characters rather than replacements in similar suits. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I've tracked down all the "after Tower" Thunder Agents appearances, including the Archie (Blue Ribbon) comic (yep, only one) and the Penthouse Comix. Don't worry about the Penthouse one, though. Despite the name, there's no sex. I don't even remember any nudity. Just a bunch of short stories about different unrelated groups of characters they hoped would take off. Only one of the stories was Thunder Agents. |

To clarify, Penthouse Comix was porn, yes. But their T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents story appeared in the third (and last) issue of their more mainstream title, Omni Comix. And it was pretty good. Art was by Paul Gulacy and Terry Austin. The story involved a rogue Russian general who gets his hands on some nuclear missiles and declares independence. Each agent got a spotlight, there were some little character bits, and they were treated liked soldiers or agents doing their job, not super-heroes. And of course it ended on a cliffhanger. |

The Deluxe Comic run was pretty sharp. Great work from guys like Perez, Cockrum, Giffen, Ordway, Anderson, Ditko... a shame David Singer was using the characters without the legal right to do so.

Yeah, that run was where I first even heard of the Agents. I think I got the first issue at a comic con in Cologne and then ordered the rest from the long-defunct Comicladen Edeltraud Schmidt mail order service. I was too young to appreciate the Murphy Anderson inks over Cockrum's pencils from #2 on back then (especially after the stunning Cockrum-Perez collaboration in #1), but they've really grown on me. |

I have all of the action titles (no war nor teen stuff, but everything else) and had been toying with the idea of doing such a thread. Time has not been my friend, as of late, but if no one else wants to take it on, I'll get started on it soon. |
