I have no idea what to pick. Anyone else have any ideas or examples of recent selections? Don't want to pick something that nobody has access to and I suppose horror and sci fi has been done. Have Westerns been done yet?

Have Westerns been done yet? You could always go by decade, or even subgenres. For example, we've never done general Sci fi: we did space travel. A few I've been considering: martial arts road trips buddy films time travel Sci fi of the 1980's Epic fantasy And, no, we haven't done Westerns yet

OK Shaxper I had been thinking martial arts or westerns myself so we can do martial arts this month if seems ok to everyone
don't want to be too specific about it just any martial arts film from any country from any decade. I suppose there is a blurring of lines between general action man fighting films and what-is-martial-arts but we'll figure it out as we go.
Any suggestions welcome

I've been saving up some great kung-fu films as it's one I've planned on doing myself, great pick Cromag! I've made the appropriate changes already so let's bring on the Wha-Pow!

I highly recommend The Invincible Armour (1977) the fight scene at the end is one of the best ever filmed. I'm pretty sure the entire film is on youtube for free.

Ive watched 2 so far :
a couple of Chang Cheh Shaw Bros films:
7 Man Army (1976) Vengeance (1970)
though not as martial-artsy as they could be, they do at least qualify as there is some martial arts in them. 7 Man Army is more of a heroic war film, with martial arts interspersed, while Vengeance is a noir-ish revenge tale, with lots of brawling. And copious amounts of the red stuff.
First time watching both, I definitely preferred Vengeance.

Yojimbo and Musashi Miyamoto are at the top of my netflix queue now.
In what turned out to be terrible timing, I just a couple weeks ago watched Rashomon for the first time. I knew the basic story and knew it would be up my alley, but I really liked the philosophical angst that came with it, that this led to questioning of faith in the soul of humanity.
