O.k., finding a theme ended up being easier than I thought - another case of one I can't believe hasn't been done before: trucks! (Or, for any members across the pond, lorries!) So this week your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find and post a comic book cover featuring some kind of truck - preferably a big-rig semi or other freight hauler, but really, the sky's the limit, so yes, ordinary delivery trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks, firetrucks, you name it. Here's a really obvious one to start us off (US 1 #1, Marvel, 1983):
The Rules (to keep Smokey off our backs):
- Post one, and only one, classic cover that fits the theme of the contest. - Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before 19 October 2011. - Please also include the title and the issue number of the comic in case some posters cannot see your image. - Covers must be posted before voting begins. - Voting takes place on Tuesday, 26 October 2021, beginning at 12:01am PST and ending at 11:59am PST. - Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. - Put the name of your choice in bold. - The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends. - The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest. - If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it; please don't post disparaging remarks about it. - If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point it out to the poster, who may then choose an alternate before voting begins. - Have fun, and stack them eights!

I love Captain Mar-Vell...I love Nitro...and so why not an exploding truck?

Also...I hope there is such a cover...but I feel like a transport dangling off a bridge and drawn from a cool perspective (like from the nose looking up to the bridge as some hero is swooping in to save the stranded trucker) should be a thing. If not....why did no one ever?!?!

This was, of course, my only thought. Not an entry.

Slightly more successful than the companion book "Police in Favor of Crime."

Truckin' #1, George Metzger, 1972. The logo on the truck says "Diamond T", which was a truck manufacturer until 1967 when it was merged with Reo. The Diamond Reo company still exists in some form.

(...) Slightly more successful than the companion book "Police in Favor of Crime." Don't know why; the latter sounds like a far more interesting and informative book...
