My Marvel Zombie past shows up sometimes. When I see "Terrible Trio", I think first of Handsome Harry Phillips, Yogi Dakor, and Bull Brogin, who battled the Torch and the Thing in the classic (?) Strange Tales #122. LOL, I remember them from their first appearance back in FF #24 (which I read when that story was reprinted in MCIC #17) when Dr. Doom enlisted them. A terrible trio? More like the Three Stooges of Doom Something occurred to me last night - the Terrible Trio's debut in FF #23 was almost simultaneous with the debut of the Enforcers in Spider-Man #10. The two trios have some similarities: - one member is a snappy dresser (Fancy Dan, Handsome Harry) - one member works with rope (Montana has a lariat, Yogi Dakor does Hindu-mystic rope work) - one member is very strong and is named after a big, dumb animal (Ox, Bull) - both were working for an evil mastermind (The Big Man, Dr. Doom) So, was Stan repeating himself, or did Kirby and Ditko come up with these guys independently? We'll probably never know.

Thanks for asking. I go to the doctor tomorrow and maybe they'll take the hard cast off. I'm losing my mind staying inside everyday and I think I hate comics now.

It's weird that there's a new Conan funnybook and a new Red Sonja funnybook this week and they are from different companies.

I really can't stand how Steve Ditko drew faces. I find his art in this respect to be crude and cartoony.

I'm not a Ditko fan but, His faces looked a lot better at the start of his career. This art looks like it's from the late 90's or so.

Why is cartoony a pejorative term? There are lots of phenomonal artists who have a cartoony style who have produced fantastic comics (both mainstream and indy).
I think if someone is using "cartoony" as a pejorative about comic book art the problem lies not with the work but with their own bias. There I said it!

I think sometimes to take something that was fairly realistic and turn it cartoony can put some people off badly, where it's the official main version anyway (not like say a parody or a side thing like Batman Adventures based on the tv cartoon, or Supergirl in The 8th Grade).
